ARTIST'S PROFILE
About PHG
PHG is an active artist in Vancouver, Canada. Working in various types of medium, she encompasses a story between her ‘lost home’ and culture in between her home country Iran and Canada where she moved when she was only 10 years old. Even though she moved out of Iran at a young age, she still has deep emotional connections to her roots, bringing a certain satisfaction and appreciation of its own. When this type of practice was incorporated in her artworks since day one, day after day, deep connections form between the individual and place. A space of curiosity and wonder develop, and PHG actively seeks to envision her own utopian world, with absolute freedom. Through the activation of unconscious senses toward her passion for her family’s culture, she expands to encompass the rich variety of textures, scents, sounds and images of vivid memories with a political lens. Though, she never wants to completely be in the realm of politics, she brings a euphoric spiritual twist in her artworks.

WELCOME
Dear visitors & guests,
I’m Pegah Hoghoughi and I’m currently in 4th year receiving my degree in Fine Arts at the University of British Columbia. After this year, I will graduate and I’m hoping to pursue my dreams and get masters in Arts/Design & Business and hopefully work in the fields of advertisement and marketing design. I hope you enjoy my cultural vision as I go back and forth in between Canada and my home country Iran. In future, I will create more visionary illustrations produced in Iran to show you the beauty of people, culture and many other things that I would love to share. I want to open a new conversation in the issues of the society, in the realm of culture, political, social and ultimately spiritual by bridging the Western world to Middle East. Also, I do not want to be labelled as a feminist artist, but I always want to bring the issues of feminism in Iran in my works and give voice to the voiceless.
Hope you enjoy the iteration of the clash of cultures I present you.
Regards,
PHG
