Artist. Creator. Visionary.
There is a link below to my wiki page created but here is a summary of what you will be expecting...
My wiki page demonstrates in depth analysis of another branch of feminism outside of what we covered in this course, and which I am interested in, Feminist Art. With my major being in Fine Arts, I was interested in researching how artists especially women artists all around the world responded to Feminism movements in different waves. By substantially researching about this topic, I gave a general brief description of Feminism at first, then the branch of my focus which is Feminist Art, and then toward giving different examples and critical analysis of important feminist artists. My interest in this topic rooted from the fact that as a growing amateur artists today in the Western world, I could not imagine living in a world where women were not allowed to grow as an artist to show their talents and they were abandoned to showcase their artworks in the galleries and museums. I also tried to give different types of mediums by artists to showcase how much effort was put in by women to gain access into the art world. I also introduced Linda Nochlin’s famous essay “Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists” which stresses the importance of women’s position and the underlying problematic outcomes they faced in the art world. Then I introduced Martha Rosler and her feminist video called Semiotics of the Kitchen, and then an installation art by Judy Chicago which is the most prominent feminist art piece in the world since 1979. At the end, I introduce one of my favourite artist whom speak to me the most since she comes from the same cultural background as me, Shirin Neshat, with her showcase of photography and poetry combination to send message about oppressed women in Iran across the globe.
